BC Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General
Liquor and cannabis licensing, compliance and enforcement for the BC Ministry of Public Safety & Solicitor General
Problem

With the legalization of cannabis in Canada came new challenges, expectations, and demands for the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch to modernize. New licensing processes required accessibility, ease of use, intuitive navigation, convenience and clear communication, while tracking, scheduling, reporting, and analysis needed to be conceived and built into a user-friendly system.

Solution

Quartech was asked to design and deliver a new Cannabis Retail Licensing Application. The project was complex and transformative in that an entire organization and associated set of systems, processes and policies were required to support this new legislation. The solution provided an online mechanism for prospective cannabis licensees to apply and be approved for a Cannabis Retail License. The project involved integration with several systems from various Ministry partners, including the Liquor Distribution Branch, Community Safety Unit, Security Screening, Ministry of Finance, BC Services Card, Verifiable Organizations Network and Policing.
